Description
The guided tour of Ostuni, also known as the White City, takes you on a discovery of this magnificent hilltop village.
Suspended between the sky and the sea, Ostuni offers picturesque views of narrow streets, steep stairways, courtyards and small squares overlooked by typical white houses embellished with colourful flowers. It will be a pleasure to walk among the typical restaurants, small shops and craft workshops that still preserve traditions such as that of terracotta whistling.
The guided tour of Ostuni starts from Piazza della Libertà and continues along Via Cattedrale, where several noble palaces will capture your attention, such as palazzo Ayroldi, palazzo Siccoda, palazzo Bisantizzi-Lopez y RoyoUno. And then the churches, such as the church of San Vito Martire, now the Ostuni Archaeological Museum, the church of San Giacomo in Compostela and the late-Gothic Apulian Con-Cathedral basilica, whose rose window conceals various symbolism. You will walk along the still existing fortified walls and enjoy the panoramic view of the countryside and the coast. You will then return to Piazza della Libertà, where you will find the Church of St Francis of Assisi and the Statue of St Oronzo, the city's patron saint.
Our guide will reveal all the secrets the White City hides, and will be happy to answer all your curiosities.
